Royal Ascot 2022 New Betting Sites & Betting Offers

All good things come to an end and, following a thrilling four days of action, Saturday sees the curtain come down on the magnificent Royal Ascot Festival for another year. As is always the case though, the most prestigious meeting in the land goes out in style, serving up a further seven cracking contests for our punting pleasure. Here we pick out our best bets on the card as we bid to end the meeting on a high.

Chesham Stakes: Rodin Sculpted for Success

With four wins in the space of the past five years, the yard of Aidan O’Brien has to be the first port of call when looking at this race. The Ballydoyle maestro is set to saddle three this year, with 4½l Leopardstown maiden winner Alfred Munnings out on his own at the head of the market. Whether he deserves to be quite so short for this though we aren’t so sure. The horse in second that day, Segomo, has since gone on to be beaten 8¾l into eighth by Crypto Force, who also goes here and may offer some value at a double figure price.

It is however the colt who finished second to Crypto Force who will be carrying our cash. Making his bid for glory at the same time as Crypto Force, Auguste Rodin was brought almost to a standstill going for a gap up the rail, with the winner clearing away down the outside. The fact that the selection was able to regather and hit the line full of running in second suggests a horse with a fair amount of talent which - with parents like Deep Impact and Rhododendron - is no surprise. Granted a clearer passage, we can see the O’Brien second string taking this.

Jersey Stakes: Don’t Ignore German Raider

Seven of the past ten winners of this arrived on the back of a run in a European 1000 or 2000 Guineas. That seems a solid trend to begin whittling down the current field of 29 and turns up just the seven qualifiers this year.

Of that septet, Dubawi Legend, Hello You, Tacarib Bay and Malex didn’t show anything like enough to suggest they can take this. However Irish 1000 fourth and fifth, Star Girls Aalmal and Agartha; and German 2000 runner up Rocchigiani all put in excellent efforts. The Irish raiders are respected, but it is the Peter Schiergen trained Rocchigiani who gets the vote here. Well clear with a furlong to go in that German contest - only to be mown down by desperately unlucky St. James’s Palace Stakes loser Maljoom - the form looks solid, and this drop back to 7f may prove ideal.

Platinum Jubilee Stakes: Go with Godolphin in Final Day Feature

A fascinating renewal of this 6f Group 1 affair sees the market headed by a pair of Australian sprinters in the shape of easy Kings Stand winner, Nature Strip, and Home Affairs who has been brought over for this race, and this race alone. If Nature Strip were to bid for a quick double following just four days’ rest, he would be the one for us. However, as things stand, we just prefer an each way punt.

Looking through the recent winners of this, eight of the past ten have fallen into the 4–5-year-old age bracket. A stat which, in combination with his excellent form at the track, leads us to the Godolphin runner, Creative Force. Coming from behind to win the Jersey Stakes over 7f on this card twelve months ago, the drop to this trip proved to be no issue on Champion’s Day, as he set sail for home early and simply would not be caught. With his flop at Meydan last time out easily forgiven due to finishing lame, he looks a solid bet to hit the frame back at his favourite venue.
