Philippe Senderos: Saliba has the quality to play at any top club

Former Arsenal defender Philippe Senderos has told NewBettingSites.uk that he believes Gunners centre-back William Saliba has the quality to play at any top club, including Real Madrid.
Speaking to NewBettingSites.uk, Senderos said: “Whether or not William Saliba leaves Arsenal depends on the opportunity, the price tag and his contract. I’m not sure what it would take for him to renew his contract, but what I do know is that players of his quality will always be linked with other big clubs.
“It is a case of him seeing what the future aims are for Arsenal, which is what a lot of players will be asking.
“Most of Real Madrid’s star players are attackers, and to play at the back for them you have to be very aggressive and also very fast in order to recover – like Antonio Rüdiger. Saliba is fast, he can win a duel, so he’s the kind of defender that would suit a top team that likes to dominate games.”
Sterling isn’t getting the consistent game time he needs at Arsenal to flourish
Senderos also commented on what has been a tough season for Raheem Sterling at the Emirates, suggesting the former FWA Footballer of the Year is not getting the consistent game time he requires to really flourish.
He said: “Raheem Sterling has had a difficult time at Arsenal this season. He hasn’t had any continuity and he can’t get consistent game time. That has made it tough for him to have any real impact on the team.
“The main thing I notice when I watch him in this Arsenal team is that when they have the ball, there isn’t a lot of space for him to operate in and you need to be really sharp in those tight areas. He is a player who needs more space to run into. He can’t seem to find this at Arsenal.
“I still think he is a sharp player, but he is much easier to defend in tight areas compared to when he has half the pitch in front of him to run into. That’s where he can beat you.”
It would be great if Van Persie came back to the Premier League at some point
Senderos played alongside Robin van Persie in his time at Arsenal and stated that it would be great to see the Dutchman return to the Premier League at some point.
“In the dressing room, you can tell which players are interested in football and will want to go into management,” he said. “Robin van Persie was one of them and now he has a big job at Feyenoord, having been at Heerenveen before. He has a strong link to Feyenoord so it is a fantastic move for him. Now it is up to him to implement his ideas and ultimately the results will guide his career.
“With the history he has at Arsenal it would be great to see him return to the club at one point or back in the Premier League in general, but that is for football to decide whether his career will take him in that direction.”
