Lauren: Arsenal can still win the Premier League and Champions League this season (interview for Newbettingsites.uk)
Former Arsenal defender Lauren has told NewBettingSites.uk that despite falling seven points behind Liverpool in the Premier League, they still have a chance of winning the title given how long there is left in the season, and remain contenders to lift the Champions League.
Speaking to NewBettingSites.uk, Lauren said: “I think Arsenal are definitely still in the title race, there are still a lot of games left to play in the season.
“It’s not going to be easy keeping up with the big teams who now have a points advantage, but given how long there is left in the season, they’re not out of it yet and they still have a chance to win it.
“Although people are saying this is their most important week with a disappointing loss against Inter Milan in the Champions League, and Chelsea to come in the Premier League, when you play at that level at such a big club, every week is the most important week, and every game is the most important game.”
Arsenal believe they can win trophies
Lauren also suggested that the belief is very much still there within the Arsenal team despite their poor run of form and he thinks that they’ll bounce back to winning ways as the players will be desperate to redeem their chances in both competitions.
Lauren added: “I think this Arsenal team is capable of challenging anyone in the Premier League. The same goes for the Champions League. Both the club and the players have the belief to win whatever competition they’re playing in.
“I expect Arsenal to put out full-strength teams in both competitions. When you think about the game that Arsenal lost against Newcastle last week, the players will be desperate to bounce back and play the next game, and they’ve got that opportunity.
“I think with the focus the players have at the moment we’ll see them back to their best in these two fixtures to get their season back on track, I have no doubts.”
Salah is one of the best African players in Premier League history
Lauren was quick to heap praise on Liverpool’s Egyptian king Mohamed Salah, branding him one of the best African players to play in the Premier League, joining the ranks of legends like Didier Drogba, Nwankwo Kanu and Samuel Eto’o.
Lauren said: “Without a doubt Mohamed Salah is one of the best players from Africa to play in the Premier League alongside the likes of Didier Drogba, Nwankwo Kanu and Samuel Eto’o. He’s been brilliant season after season for Liverpool and has been an example of consistency – he’s always there making an impact, scoring goals and winning them games, like we saw against Brighton last weekend.
“That’s why we put him in the same bracket as Drogba, Kanu and Eto’o – they are the greatest. It’s not by chance these players were so prolific, they were consistent year after year which is no mean feat in the Premier League.
“I’m sure Salah would love to win the Premier League title again if this does happen to be his last season, but I hope they don’t do it! I want the Premier League trophy to go to Arsenal, they’ve got my full backing.”
